This position contributes to the success of the SEO department by overseeing and managing the successful planning, strategy and execution of search engine optimization campaigns.

Job Summary

The SEO Project Manager is the overarching voice of the SEO campaign. The SEO PM is responsible for organizing and managing resources to ensure positive campaign performance. This includes working with SEO specialists and SEO developers to ensure all deliverables are completed in a timely fashion and exceed client expectations. SEO PMs often monitor projects from inception to completion and must work cooperatively with other departmental team members to accomplish SEO goals. In addition, the SEO PM will be expected to be the day to day contact for all SEO related questions, and will be the intermediary between the client and the SEO team.  The SEO PM will also be responsible for monthly reporting on all key performance indicators.

Essential Functions – Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the successful planning, strategy, and execution of SEO campaigns
  • Act as main point of contact for all SEO-related communication as well as create client presentations
  • Constantly monitor rankings and Google Analytics for traffic changes and conduct detailed reporting on KPIs
  • Ensure timely completion of SEO deliverables including keyword research, keyword mapping, content optimization, website diagnostics, algorithmic optimization, copywriting, and any link building items.
  • Work closely with Specialists and developers to ensure successful client campaign performance
  • Work with external vendors and internal Content Manger on developing content creation strategy including Infographics, press releases, on page site content, blog posts and more
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trend, search engine updates and SEO best practices
  • Reviewing and analyzing client site(s) for areas of improvement
  • Preparing detailed SEO end-of-month reports
  • QA all deliverables and reports before presenting to clients
  • Support sales team’s efforts in developing new leads and pursuing new clients

Knowledge, Skills and Experience – Position Requirements

  • The ideal candidate for the position should have a BA or BS undergraduate degree
  • 2 + years of working experience with search engine optimization
  • Have a basic understanding of HTML coding and how websites work
  • Have a thorough understanding of Google Analytics
  • Ability to gain insight from data across multiple channels in order to make actionable recommendations
  • Ability to analyze website performance metrics in relation to SEO
  • Ability to provide superior customer service and demonstrate expert knowledge of the product and the business
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Good research and problem solving skills.  Proper candidate should be self-motivated, flexible and a team player.
  • Possesses a great deal of initiative, energy, and assertiveness and possess a high level of professionalism, adaptability and must be open to changing priorities
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of SEO including keyword research and link building
  • Following search engine guidelines and keeps abreast of white hat and black hat tactics
  • Excessive knowledge and experience using the following tools and software:
    • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Google Analytics and Google/Bing Webmaster Tools
    • Google AdWords Keyword Tool
    • SEOmoz Pro Tools, OpenSiteExplorer, Majestic SEO
    • Xenu and/or Screaming Frog
    • WordPress Content Management System
